#92: Lisa Bloomquist – floxiehope.com – Lyme Disease-like side effects from these common antibiotics

Lisa Bloomquist was born and raised in Denver, Colorado and was always very active. In 2010 she hiked the entire 500 mile Colorado Trail. All that changed when she took a round of fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Lisa credits her supportive family and great friends who believed in her and that she would get better even when she did not believe it herself. Her intention is to help everyone who is inadvertently affected by fluoroquinolone as much as she can.

#91: Brenda Cosentino – The Real Food Rebel – Using Real Food to heal from Lyme Disease

Brenda had a 20 year battle with psychiatric issues that started in middle school and came to a head in 2007 where she was taking medication for her mental health that were causing crippling anxiety and panic attacks. She started researching how to treat her mental health with food and diet. From then on it was a steep learning curve with which she tremendously improved her mental health with food and diet.

In 2012 she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease and several co-infections and was referred to a Lyme Literate Doctor in the United States. after several years of struggling with lyme treatment, she has had successful remission after intensive parasite cleansing, Buhner protocols for lyme and co-infections and Wahl’s Paleo Diet. She has no symptoms and has been completely medication free for over 8 years.

#90: Lydia Niederwerfer – Webmaster of lyme-aware.org – How her dog helped her heal from Lyme

When Lydia first discovered a tick on her shoulder – she went to the ER, and was prescribed 10 days of Doxycycline as a precaution. A few days later she developed a bull’s eye rash. The doxycycline alleviated  her symptoms, but when she went back to ask for another treatment of antibiotics – which she was refused, because her western blot and Elisa tests came back negative. A neurologist successfully diagnosed her Lyme disease, and after exhausting the treatment protocols recommend she find a Lyme Literate Doctor. Now she is mostly symptom free, and continues to work on controlling her babesia symptoms. She has created a website, lyme-aware.org as an easy to use resource for people with lyme disease.

Donna Kelley lives in the Sierra foothills, home of the big pines and cedars of Volcano, California. She loves and enjoys hiking and bicycling especially in Yosemite.
